Infection Control Micro-Learn: Measles

This project explores how design can enhance the way CDC communicates prevention-focused public health information. The primary goal is to transform complex data into clear, accessible visual systems and intuitive digital experiences that improve understanding and usability for a broad audience. By prioritizing clarity, accessibility, and engagement, the design aims to simplify critical health information without compromising accuracy, and empowering users to make informed decisions.

In collaboration with the Project Firstline team, we developed a Micro-learn for the Measles Outbreak response. This resource educates health care teams on what to do when they suspect a measles case. The micro-learns are a series of guided discussions that connect infection control concepts to immediate, practical value, so healthcare workers can recognize risks and stop the spread of germs.

Journal Club

The journal club activities are designed to promote critical thinking and discussion around infection prevention topics. Through guided conversations and analysis of real-world scenarios or research, participants engage collaboratively to deepen their understanding of best practices in healthcare settings. These sessions encourage active learning, knowledge sharing, and the application of evidence-based insights, helping build confidence in identifying risks and improving infection control practices in everyday work.

Learning Activities

The learning activities are designed to translate infection control concepts into interactive, real-world applications. The activities emphasize hands-on, scenario-based learning—such as case studies, environmental scans, and collaborative exercises that encourage critical thinking and practical problem-solving in healthcare settings. By integrating adaptable, ready-to-use materials into existing curricula, the toolkit supports educators in making complex infection prevention concepts more engaging and actionable. The overall goal is to equip future healthcare professionals with the knowledge and confidence to identify risks, prevent the spread of infections, and apply best practices in real-world environments.
